With the ORTC race in Georgia last weekend, the racers move further south to the birth place of the ORTC, Bradenton Motorsports Park. This weekend though is Bradenton’s version of the race called the ODRC. This Friday is racer registration and a test session from 4-9 PM. The weather is great with little clouds to be seen after a mild front moved by last night, which should provide us with clear skies for this weekend. Check back to Dragzine all weekend for the latest updates from Bradenton.
Special thanks to our event coverage sponsor Mickey Thompson Tires. You can check out their fine line of slicks, drag radials, and street tires at www.mickeythompsontires.com.
Thanks to co-operating weather this weekend we are on schedule to start eliminations about 10 AM this morning. Final qualifying went till after 1:30 with X275 and Kevin Neal taking the top spot with a record setting 4.785 @ 149.

It’s early October in New Jersey and that can only mean the return of one of heads-up drag racing’s most prestigious events: the 9th annual Shakedown at E’Town from the Old Bridge Township Raceway Park In New Jersey.
So far the news from The Shakedown is Rich Bruder running a 4.80 last night during qualifying which should make the earlier 4.84 the backup for the new X275 record. Bruder runs a Procharged small block Ford with Mustang Mike on board the team. Jason Carter laid down a 4.47 @ 186 in first round qualifying of Drag Radial for high MPH and Steve Jackson putting up a 4.40 @ 175. Rob Wells from Fordspeed Racing is behind the wheel of David Hance's Drag Mustang.
Enos Runs a 4.11 @ 191 - Dragzine.com
The OL 10.5 record has been reset recently by Richard Sexton’s screw blown GTO with a 4.140, besting Lynch’s 4.14. with Chuck Ulsch close behind with a 4.148. Proline Racing, Victory Racecraft and Jason Enos have plans of their own running a 4.11 @ 191 Thursday at MIR prior to The Shakedown @ E-Town this weekend.
Congrats to the Bracket Champions at Sunshine Dragstrip. Last Friday the 17th was the final points race of the year. Special congrats to our friend Paul Rebis who won the championship and the King of the Track Friday night.
I have set all the bracket racing galleries and gifts to a 15% discount with the code word "finals" when you check out of the online store. Other items include coffee mugs, mouse pads, magnets, key chains and puzzles. Plan ahead Christmas is coming up, get your gifts early. I can do photo albums as well starting at $70 depending on the amount of photos.
Thank you.
2011 Yellowbullet.com Nationals Event Coverage ~ Dragzine.com
In light of the recent announcement by Carl Weisinger that this year’s World Street Nationals has been postponed until 2012 we reached out to the popular track owner to hear the rest of the story. We discussed all sorts of things from the economy and politics to his first car he raced. Let me start this off by saying the man has been around racing and assorted tracks since 1961, is a former record holder and many time class winner in Super Stock Eliminator and got his start paying to get in, working the lanes and even wrapping hot dogs just to be around the sport.
Back in January Blair Brannock from Rockstar Performance purchased a 1990 Mustang hatch out of Texas to add to his collection of cars and hit some local X275/TT5 racing. Sometimes life gets in the way of plans and we finally hit the track for testing last Wednesday with good results.
Grab-A-Lane held its second annual Street Car Shootout this past Saturday at Bradenton Motorsports Park, ending in an exciting final round between Blair Brannock and Shawn Byrne with Byrne getting the win before catching fire on the top end. We’ve got gthe results, the photos, and even some video from the event. - Dragzine.com
Congrats to Tony Ridenour in his first Limited Street win at his first race of the year here at Sunshine Dragstrip.
